Satara Biltong Box Jerky Dehydrator

The 52 Degrees South Satara is a dedicated biltong box for making traditional South African biltong and beef jerky at home. Strips of meat hang from three aluminium rods while a low 40W heat bulb and natural airflow dry them gently. It comes with 100 g of biltong spice, an inline on/off switch and a 2 metre cable with a UK plug.

Hanging Dries Biltong the Traditional Way

Tray dehydrators lay meat flat, which suits jerky but not thick biltong strips. The Satara lets meat hang freely so air reaches every side, just as biltong has been dried for generations. Clear panels on three sides let you watch the meat dry, and the adjustable rod supports move along the angled holders so you can space strips perfectly. It is made from 3 mm impact-resistant acrylic with a sturdy white back panel.

Always use fresh, good quality meat, keep the box in a dry room, and store finished biltong in a paper bag or the fridge. For jerky, hang thinner strips that will dry more quickly. Let everything cool fully before storing it in airtight jars or bags in a cool, dark cupboard.
