Work one side until you can feel a small burr along the opposite edge, then switch sides and repeat before moving to the finer grit.

Hone your knives regularly between sharpening sessions with a steel or fine stone to keep the edge straight for longer. Most water stones need soaking for 10 to 15 minutes before use, until bubbles stop rising, and should be kept wet while you work.

Stones wear unevenly over time, so flatten them now and then with a flattening plate or coarse sandpaper on a flat surface. A whetstone gives a sharper, longer-lasting edge than most pull-through sharpeners, because you control the angle and remove only a little metal.

In Stock Now

The HiramWare Whetstone is in stock at Kitchen Supplies Zone, ready for swift UK dispatch.

FAQs

Q: What do the HiramWare 400/1000 Whetstone sides do?

A: 400 grit repairs chips and 1000 grit sharpens.

Q: Do I need oil?

A: No. Just soak it in water before use.

Q: How quickly will my HiramWare 400/1000 Whetstone arrive?

A: Orders leave Kitchen Supplies Zone with swift UK dispatch, and a dependable courier delivers to UK mainland addresses.
